2011/2012 COMPETITION TEAM

Please note, auditions are separated by age, however this does not determine placement in dances.

The audition process will consist of choreography, technique, and across the floor skills.
Requirements are as follows and are strictly enforced:
-Each dancer MUST take one ballet class and one jazz class, along with AT LEAST one additional class of your choice.
-Each dancer will receive 3 excused absences. Additional absences may result in dismissal from the team at the discretion of the choreographer. Attendance will be taken at the start of each class.
-Competitions and dates will be determined in the fall and will not be changed for scheduling conflicts that arise later in the year. Upon receiving competition dates, please notify the studio immediately if you are absolutely unable to attend.
-Choreographers will choose dancers based on level and will be placed accordingly in the appropriate dance.
-As our competition dates grow nearer, Saturday rehearsals will be mandatory for ALL dancers.
-Solos, duos, trios, and additional small groups require additional choreography & competition fees.
-These dances must be approved by the choreographer and require extra time and 
commitment.
-Dancers will be chosen on technique, performance skill & style. The following skills must be demonstrated:
-A full split
-A full heel stretch, held for 8 counts
-A Clean double pirouette
-A 180 degree leap, both front and center
-A 90 degree arabesque and a 140 degree grande battement, front and side
-A POSITIVE attitude!
-Commitment to a team of dancers passionate for the art of dance
Please remember you are representing yourselves and the studio, negative attitudes will not be tolerated.
Auditions will require dancers to wear a black leotard, tan tights, with hair in a bun.
Your attendance, commitment and attitude will be considered when choosing placement for teams and routines. This also includes regular dance classes.
The competition team will participate in 3 local competitions during the months of March and April.
